The competition is open for choral conductors born after February 1983. 

 

Competition is organised in two categories:

Category A – Choral conductors (3 rounds), 

Category B – Children choir conductors (1 round). 

Conductors can apply for one or both categories.

 

Deadline for applications: February 13th, 20123

Announcement of accepted candidates: February 17 th, 2023

 

Official language of the competition is English and Slovene. (Official translator (English to Slovene) will be provided by organizers for Category B - Children choir conductors).

Competition is open to the public (except the afternoon rehearsal with the choir for the final concert).

 

 

FEES, ACCOMODATION AND MEALS 

 

Application fee:

50 EUR (non-refundable), to be paid upon the application (when we receive your application, we will send you the documents needed to pay the application fee).

By post: 

- A DVD of concert and rehearsal - the choir conducted by the competitor. The conductor has to be clearly seen, not only from far away. The recording should be at least 15 minutes long. Recording day may not be prior to March 14th 2018. 

- Recommendation letter of the conducting professor or a reputable choral expert or the national choral organisation in your country

4:00 pm                Competition: II. Semi-finals (St. Stanislav Girls’ Choir Ljubljana).

Each participant conducts the compulsory piece (no rehearsing) and rehearses for 12 minutes composition for rehearsal.

PRIZES

 

DIPLOMAS:

All the participants will receive a diploma of participation. 

In A category special diplomas for participation in Semi-finals and Finals will be also given.

 

AWARDS:

 

CATEGORY - A / CHORAL CONDUCTORS

 

PRIZE OF THE SLOVENIAN PHILHARMONIC CHOIR 

At the proposal of the jury and representatives of the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, the first-placed conductor in the A-category can be awarded a prize - a performance with the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir in the 2024/25 season

1. PLACE 1.000,00 €, the festival plaque 

and a concert with SLOVENE PHILHARMONIC CHOIR on a suge. 

 

2. PLACE the festival plaque 

and accommodation and participation at masterclass for choral conductors in Slovenia.

 

3. PLACE the festival plaque 

and scores from Astrum Music Publications in value of 100 €.

 

CATEGORY (special) - B / CHILDREN CHOIR CONDUCTORS

 

1. PLACE 500,00 €, the festival plaque 

and a place as a guest conductor at the Primorska Young Singers' Camp (August 2023)

 

2. PLACE the festival plaque 

and accommodation and participation at masterclass for choral conductors in Slovenia.

.

 3. PLACE the festival plaque

and scores from Public fund for cultural activities of RS (JSKD RS) in value of 100 €.

 

In case there is a number of conductors that achieve the same number of points, the monetary prize will be equally distributed among them.

 

OTHER SPECIAL PRIZES: 

The jury can award:

- a special prize to the most perspective young conductor (born after February 1996) of the competition in A and B category.

- a special prize for well-thought-out pedagogic approach with the choir (B category - children choir conductors),

- a special prize for the most inspiring conductor,

- a special prize the best performance of a compulsory composition (A category - Finals),

- a special prize to a foreign conductor for the best performance of a Slovenian piece (A category - Finals), 

 

By prepositions of the jury, additional prizes may be awarded.

 

THE PRIZE OF THE CHOIR

for the most charismatic choral conductor at the Final concert of the 3rd international choral conductors competition ''Aegis carminis'' 2023, chosen by the KGBL Chamber Choir (practical prize).
