This year's edition of the choir competition has also been decided to be a virtual event due to unstable conditions and the desire for choirs to participate. We invite choirs to co-create a choral event with us, where we will be able to present the highlights of choral music of the 20th and 21st centuries from around the world.

APPLICATION
1. Participation
- 3rd International youth choral festival ''AEGIS CARMINIS'' 2023, Koper / competition is meant for children’s up to 15 years, youth choirs up to 19 years, choirs up to 30 years and Virtual choirs (no age limit).
- Only amateur choirs are allowed to participate in the competition.
- Conductors and possible accompanying instrumentalists can be professional musicians.
- The number of singers cannot be less than 12; however, there is no upper limit.
- The number of participants is not limited.
- The artistic board named by the organization committee, will determine whether a certain choir will be admitted to the competition.
The decision will be based on the artistic quality of the choir, evident from the application and video recording.
2. Application materials
The choirs must:
a) fill in the APPLICATION and send it to choirs@aegiscarminis.si
b) send the application material over Wetransfer to choirs@aegiscarminis.si:
1. A video of the choir made after March 11, 2022 where the entire choir sings together in one physical space and previously not published online or sent to other competitions,
2. One copy of a readable score of registered composition,
3. A short description of the choir's activity.
4. An interesting photo of the choir, which must be high resolution,
5. A statement that the video has not been submitted to other competitions or posted online (FB, YouTube).
If made as a VIRTUAL CHOIR it is necessary to add:
6. A brief description of the video concept,
7. Information about the technical team that prepared the video.
PROGRAMS
1. The course of the competition
The choirs must download a video recording in one track with TWO CONTRASTED compositions from two of four periods of 20th and 21st century. One should be written by composer of choir’s origin and the other by foreign composer. For performances of pieces written in individual periods there will be special prizes (see Special prizes).
In Category E - VIRTUAL CHOIR choirs present themselves with one composition composed in 20th or 21st century.

- 1900–1945
- 1946–1990
- 1991– February 2021
- March 1, 2021 (novelty) –
In addition to the quality of the performance of the composition, the choirs, when they apply to a Category E – Virtual choir, should also pay attention to the concept and innovation of video production.
Foreign choirs can participate in one of the categories (A, B, C, E) and / or in Category D - music of contemporary Slovenian composers (see Astrum Award). Slovenian choirs can participate in one of the categories (A, B, C, E).

- FRIDAY, May 14, 2023 – online application and video
- TUESDAY, May 18, 2023 – announcement of accepted applicants
Fee payment deadline:
Accepted choirs will receive a preliminary assessment of costs by May 21st, 2023. The payment must be transferred no later than April 28th, 2023 to the following account: IBAN SI56 6100 0001 6550 875 (Delavska hranilnica d.d. Ljubljana).
PRIZES AND PLAQUETTES
Plaquettes:
In each category, the jury will award prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and other special awards.
1. PLACE in the A category - choirs up to 30 years: the festival plaque,
1. PLACE in the B category - youth choirs up to 19 years: the festival plaque,
1. PLACE in the C category - children’s choirs up to 15 years: the festival plaque,
1. PLACE in the D category - ASTRUM PRIZE scores in value of 100,00 € to a foreign choir for the best performance of a composition by a Slovenian composer and the festival plaque.
1. PLACE in the E category – VIRTUAL CHOIR: the festival plaque.
Monetary prizes:
Special prize for the best performance of a NEW COMPOSITION, composed after March 1, 2021, 200,00 €.
First place can only be awarded if at least 90,00 are points achieved. In case there is a number of choirs that achieve the same number of points, the monetary prize will be equally distributed among them.

- a special prize to the choir for the best performance of a piece composed in 1900–1945,
- a special prize to the choir for the best performance of a piece composed in 1946–1990,
- a special prize to the choir for the best performance of a piece composed in 1991–February 2021,
- a special prize to the best Slovenian choir,
- a special prize for the most original concept of video presentation of the composition,
- a special prize for the most original video production.
By prepositions of the jury, additional prizes can be awarded.
AUDIENCE AWARD (Selected videos for Grand Prix)
for the most convincing video according to the audience, who will be able to evaluate and support individual videos on the festival Facebook page of the festival by liking them.
Info will be announced later after the announcement of the results and the choirs that will participate in the Grand Prix competition.
Announcements of results
Evaluations of the competition performances will be made public after the award ceremony. The decisions of the jury are final. Complaints against them are not possible.
